"As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another"

Proverbs 27:17

Derrick's random thought of the week :)

Have you ever prayed a prayer like this:

Lord, Jesus, I love you and I thank you for saving me. Lord, I want to do your will in my life. Lord, please guide me and show me the will that you have for my life. Lord, I am so confused and I don’t know what it is that you want me to do. Please Lord, show me your will for my life.

Have you ever asked yourself why God isn’t answering that prayer? I have!

(NOTE: Please understand that I am not saying this is what everyone is supposed to do in his or her life. This is my own personal experience by the illumination of the Holy Spirit into God’s Word.)

It wasn’t until about a year ago that I finally figured out what God wanted in my life. I had searched, cried, and pleaded with God to show me His will for my life and it always seemed to be an unanswered prayer. Then one day it struck me, it was in front of me every single day in His living Word. Not only what God’s will is for my life but for everyone’s life.

Throughout Scripture, we see God’s call for relationships not only among humankind but also (and more importantly) with Him. We see repeatedly, God instructing and molding people into His image as we are made in His image yet were born with a sinful nature because of the fall.

I was doing a daily study a year ago with Pastor Adrian Rogers (online) and the Holy Spirit spoke through him, to me. God’s will in my life (and in everyone’s) is to submit to Him and serve Him! We see it all throughout Scripture and more importantly in Revelation and the life of Jesus Christ. We are to be servant-leaders fulfilling the great commission.

I can make this a huge posting but I won’t. I encourage you to do your own study on the “God's will” and search through Scripture. God wants a relationship with us. He wants us to make Him the priority of our lives. The whole Bible teaches us what God's will is for our lives.

Once you figure out His will in your life and the numerous times He calls you to serve Him, He will show you your purpose and guide you in the direction that glorifies Him. It’s not about us and our wants and desires, it’s about Jesus Christ and being a servant-leader to him and glorifying His kingdom.

It wasn’t until I started giving everything back to Jesus Christ in my life, then I saw change. The muddy water became clear. I am no means out of the woods but I am running the race and not giving up. I am learning to be content with the things in my life and I am being blessed. I am submitting myself to Jesus Christ in all that I do and I am growing in faith, wisdom and discernment.

My life has grown in Christ more in the past year than I have ever experienced. I have suffered many trials and great tribulations with my career and my marriage but God used those to mold me and build me and to Him I offer praise and glory. However, it wasn’t until I gave Him everything and started to serve Him and be submissive to Him.

I hope that this may be an encouragement to some of you. I hope that this blog site will offer insight and blessings to all of you including myself. It is my prayer that we will be open and honest amongst each other and lift each other up. My heart is heavy for the lost and also the saved and struggling as we are all men "with hurting hearts".

Father, I thank you for opening my eyes and my heart to Your will. I thank you for loving me and changing me. I thank you for your precious gift of life through the sacrifice of your Son on the cross. I praise you that I am washed in Your blood and have the gift of eternal life through your grace and mercy.

I pray Lord that this message will be used in a way that will touch someone’s heart through the power and anointing of your Holy Spirit. I pray that it is not arrogant or boastful in your eyes. Lord, I want to serve you and glorify your kingdom. Thank you for allowing me to be your servant. You are my God, my King and my Friend. To You I give all the praise the honor and the glory.

Amen
