"As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another"

Proverbs 27:17

If the world were a golf ball...

If the world were a golf ball… If you were at Wednesday night’s prayer meeting, you understand what I am talking about. For those of you who we not, we were shown a video that put our existence back into perspective and showed us how incomprehensible God’s power, will, and presence truly is. It was a very humbling experience. God is in control of everything down to the last “Laminin”.

Throughout the week, I have struggled with a roller coaster of emotions and a spiritual battle that was insane. It wasn’t until this morning on my knees, that it truly hit me how power God is in my life and how I have failed Him this week by not relying on Him. Instead of giving Him my burden, I held it in and tried to “do it on my own”.

After leaving church this morning, I went and filed my medical paperwork for the police department and the state of Ohio Department of Public Safety. Effective August 4th, 2008, I will no longer be recognized as a police officer, paramedic or firefighter. Until this morning, I truly struggled with that. However, I am am now at peace with it by the grace of God.

My whole life I accepted the world’s view of work and how it defines a man in society. It was a big pride issue for me. Work is not what makes a man, work is what a man does to provide for his family. It doesn’t matter what the title is. It surely isn’t going to make a difference in Heaven what my job title is on earth. What matters is whether or not I am fulfilling the great commandment and living in obedience to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

Pastor Adrian Rogers once said, “We live in a day where a HERO is a sandwich, LIFE is a magazine, POWER is a candy bar, JOY is a detergent, SIN is a perfume, a STAR is an actress who’s been married three times, and the “REAL THING” is a soft drink.” The American society has become so perverted in it’s thoughts that they live as if darkness is light and light is darkness.

Today I poured out my heart and soul to Christ and asked him for his lite yoke and he gave it to me. I asked Christ to help my marriage grow more Christ like and today my wife has said things to me that made me take a second to think “is this really my wife?” God is at work in my life, my wife’s life and in your life if you submit yourself to Him!

I am at peace with my past career title. I know that God is using me in a way I never saw coming. He has lined things up for me in college so I can graduate in June. He has called me into the ministry of counseling and spreading the Gospel. He is healing my marriage and one day my wife and I are going to stand at the pulpit and profess and proclaim the Glory of God in our marriage to others and offer hope.

Satan broadsided me this week making me think that I could do this on my own. I can’t, more importantly, I don’t want to! I praise God for my brothers and sisters in Christ that have encouraged me and spoke to me through the power of the Holy Spirit. I thank God for giving me peace and destroying my pride even if only for today.

I am just a speck on a golf ball lucky enough to be used in a minute way that brings glory, praise and honor to Jesus Christ. There is nothing to big for Christ.

FROM LOVE WORTH FINDING MINISTRIES:

BIBLE MEDITATION:

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
  • A little boy was trying to roll a rock as his father watched from a distance. The boy was heaving and sighing, but he couldn’t turn the stone over. His dad, with a smile said, “Son, are you using all of your strength?” He said, “Yes, Daddy, I’m using all my strength.” And the father said, “No, you’re not because you have not asked me to help you. My strength is your strength.” Sometimes we wrestle with problems and say, “I don’t know what to do.” Our Father wants us to say, “I’ve run out of my strength,” and run into His. He is there. There is no problem too big for Jesus to solve. Do you believe that? I hope so.

ACTION POINT:
  • Is there a problem too big for you to solve? Give it to Jesus. He can handle it.

SEE YOU AT THE ALTAR
